Possibly two more games remain in the NBA finals and just about everyone continues to ask: What’s wrong with LeBron James? Social media is buzzing with rumors that LeBron can’t concentrate because of trouble at home. Hoop experts say he’s playing too many minutes and doesn’t have the energy to be an effective closer as the game winds down. Only two points in the fourth quarter of game five. Issues yes, but enough already. What about Dallas?

The NBA Finals which tipoff tonight, will feature the Miami Heat against the Dallas Mavericks, the two teams who through three playoff rounds have clearly proven to be the best in the world this year. That said, the real headliners of this series are the Heat’s LeBron James and Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki.

This match up is reminiscent of the classic Bird versus Magic rivalry more than 25 years ago – two of the league’s most important stars playing the best basketball of their careers.

Dirk Nowitzki’s game Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder will go down as one of the greatest playoff performances of all-time. It’s not just that he scored 48 points, and led his team to a convincing win, but it’s how he did it. Nowitzki missed only 3 shots all game, and was 24 for 24 from the free throw line. It was a dominant, career-defining performance for a guy who for whatever reason has never really gotten his just due.
